Tips for Tempting Your Cat to Eat

In both hospital and home settings, cats can sometimes become a bit finicky, and ensuring they eat is crucial to prevent further health issues.

Tips: Here are a few tips to encourage your cat to eat:

  • Experiment with Textures and Flavours: Try different textures, flavours, and types of food to entice your cat. Any calorie intake is beneficial, so don't worry if they prefer what we call "junk food," such as Fancy Feast or different types of dry food.
  • Temperature Matters: Experiment with heating wet foods to body temperature for better palatability. Sometimes, cats prefer slightly warmer food over cold options.

Important Note:

  • Avoid Constant Feeding: Don't offer food constantly, as it can lead to food aversion. Instead, offer small amounts slowly and remove the food after a while. This gives your cat a chance to eat, and if they're not interested, try again later.

If your cat still refuses to eat, it's crucial to address the issue. Consider reaching out to Cat Specialist Services or your regular veterinarian. They might suggest using appetite stimulants, and we have videos on our website providing hints, tips, and tricks on using these stimulants, whether on the ear, in tablet or capsule form, or as a liquid. For any questions or concerns, feel free to call us at Cat Specialist Services, and we'll be happy to assist you. Thank you.
