Tips for Making Your Cat’s Visit Easier to the Hospital

Tips for making your visit easier

We know that bringing your cat to the hospital can be stressful for both you and your furry friend. Here are some helpful tips to make the process smoother and less worrisome.

Get your cat used to the carrier early

One of the best things you can do is get your cat comfortable with their carrier before the vet visit. Try using a pheromone spray like Feliway inside the carrier—it helps keep cats calm and relaxed.

Another tip is to keep the carrier in your home’s everyday environment, with plenty of soft bedding inside, so it becomes a familiar, non-scary part of the furniture. The more it feels like a cozy spot, the less stressful it will be when it’s time for a trip to the vet.

Prepare in advance

On the day of your vet visit, try to make everything as stress-free as possible. It’s a good idea to keep your cat inside overnight in a single room so you aren’t chasing them around when it’s time to leave. Having everything ready in advance—like their carrier and any necessary items—makes the process gentle and quick.

Traveling with your cat

When travelling, make sure your cat has soft bedding inside the carrier to keep them comfortable. Covering the carrier with a towel can help minimise outside stimulation and keep your cat calm during the trip.

Arriving at the hospital

When you arrive at the vet hospital, we recommend placing the carrier on a higher surface. We have plenty of raised areas available, which can make your cat feel more secure and less exposed.

We’ve also created some videos and posts on how to place your cat into the carrier, depending on the type of carrier you have, so feel free to check them out for guidance.
