Cat Specialist Services
A feline-focused seminar for vet nurses, sponsored by RCW & Vetoquino.
Attendees will strengthen their understanding of feline fluid therapy, from core physiology and accurate fluid calculations to advanced monitoring and tailored strategies for high risk and critically ill patients.
Fluid therapy is one of the most common — and most important — nursing interventions in feline practice. Getting it right can stabilise patients, prevent complications and significantly influence outcomes. This nurse-focused seminar is designed to strengthen your understanding of fluid therapy from first principles through to advanced, high-risk care.
At Cat Specialist Services, we work exclusively with feline patients and understand how nuanced fluid management can be. Cats are not small dogs.
Their physiology, disease processes and tolerance to fluid shifts require thoughtful, informed nursing decisions. This session focuses on building that confidence and clarity.
Basics of Fluid Therapy in Feline Patients – Shannan Healey
Breaking down the essentials of feline fluid therapy, this session links core physiology to practical nursing strategies that support safe, effective care for feline patients. You’ll revisit the fundamentals and strengthen your ability to apply them in everyday cases.
Advanced Fluid Therapy in Feline Patients – Natalie Hunt
An advanced look at feline fluid therapy, highlighting tailored fluid strategies and monitoring techniques for high-risk and critically ill patients. This session will support nurses working with complex cases where precision and close monitoring are critical.
Together, these sessions provide a comprehensive understanding of feline fluid therapy, from stable patients through to intensive care.
Fluid therapy in cats requires careful calculation, ongoing assessment and proactive monitoring. Small errors in volume, rate or interpretation can have significant consequences, particularly in compromised or critically ill patients.
This seminar will help you confidently assess hydration status, choose appropriate fluid strategies and monitor patients effectively. By strengthening your understanding of both foundational and advanced techniques, you’ll improve patient safety, reduce complications and contribute to stronger clinical outcomes.
“Thank you for the wonderful day of all things cats. I am at the opposite end of my career compared with most attendees, but still like to keep in touch with new developments, even if I am just managing my two felines.” – Previous Participant
All attendees will receive a Fluid Therapy Quick Reference Guide — a practical tool designed to support safe, informed nursing decisions in everyday feline practice.
