David graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science and Commerce. After working in mixed animal practice in Victoria, David undertook an 18-month internship at Veterinary Specialist Services.
Following a further two years in general and referral surgical small animal practice in the United Kingdom, David returned to Veterinary Specialist Services to undertake a residency program, achieving Fellowship in Small Animal Surgery in 2015.
David is part of the surgical team at Veterinary Specialist Services. He has a broad case load, but particularly enjoys orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery and all minimally invasive surgery.
David’s special interest area is arthroscopic joint surgery. This involves keyhole surgical techniques for joint diseases such as cruciate ligament disease, elbow dysplasia and shoulder conditions. Other areas of interest include interventional radiology and laparoscopy applications to small animal surgery, such as portosystemic shunts.
David is engaged in the local veterinary community. He is a committee member of the Brisbane Veterinary Practitioners Group of the AVA and has previously served on the Committee of the Surgery Chapter of the ANZCVS. David is an active mentor for Membership and Fellowship candidates in Small Animal Surgery and has previously been an examiner for the Membership and Fellowship (Specialist) Examination in Small Animal Surgery.
David is married to Katie and they have two beautiful daughters, Tess and Penny and two busy sons, Jonathan and Timothy, along with three four-legged family members.
