Hector’s Scare with Bladder Stones

Hector Tobin

Patient details

Name: Hector
Age: 10 years old
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Gender: Male

Hector was referred to CSS due to persistent hematuria (blood in his urine).

After discovering bladder stones that couldn’t be dissolved with diet, Hector underwent surgery to remove them.

Thanks to the expert care of his surgical and follow-up teams, Hector is now on the mend!

We’re thrilled to have been part of Hector’s care and are happy to know he’s recovering well.

Patient history

Initial presentation

Hector was brought to CSS after experiencing persistent blood in his urine. X-rays revealed numerous calcium oxalate stones in his bladder. Unfortunately, these types of stones cannot be dissolved through dietary changes, making surgery the best option for treatment.

Surgery and treatment

Dr Lincoln Chau performed a cystotomy, surgically opening Hector’s bladder to remove the stones. His follow-up care was overseen by Dr Rachel Korman and her team of nurses, who ensured a smooth recovery after the surgery.

Outcome

Hector is now recovering well at home after his procedure, and while we miss him here at CSS, we’re delighted to hear that he’s doing much better.
