How to create the liquid diet for use in a feeding tube

This guide will walk you through the simple steps to prepare a liquid diet for your cat’s feeding tube. With proper preparation, the process will be smooth and efficient.

What you’ll need

  • 110g of AD canned food
  • 20ml of water (plain tap water is fine)
  • 80ml of Ensure (a nutritional supplement)

Step-by-step instructions

  • Blend the Ingredients
  • Begin by adding one tin of AD food into a container that’s easy to blend.
  • Next, pour in the 20ml of water and 80ml of Ensure.
  • Mix to a Smooth Consistency
  • Using a handheld blender, mix everything until the solution is smooth and lump-free. The goal is to create a blend that is easy to draw into a syringe for feeding. This mixture will provide a solution of 1.1 kilocalories per milliliter, suitable for feeding through your cat’s tube.
