Dr. Korman’s childhood love for cats led her to veterinary medicine, and early on, it was clear that feline care was her calling. After graduating from the University of Queensland in 2000, she worked in small animal and feline-only practices across Australia and the UK.

She received a Senior Clinical Training Scholarship from the Feline Advisory Bureau (now International Cat Care) at the University of Bristol, where she researched feline infectious and haematological diseases, and in 2018, became a Fellow of the Feline Medicine Chapter of the Australian New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists and a registered Feline Medicine specialist.

Championing advanced feline care

Dr Korman is president of the Feline Medicine Chapter and clinical lead tutor for the Centre for Veterinary Education Feline Medicine Distance Education Course for the University of Sydney. Her interests include feline endocrinology, nephrology, infectious disease and haematology. Rachel lectures extensively across the UK, Europe and Asia and received the Cynthia Award from International Cat Care for her dedicated work with cats.

Living the dream

Dr Korman, our fearless leader and director in feline medicine at Cat Specialist Services in partnership with Veterinary Specialist Services (VSS), is driven by her passion for cat wellbeing.

She genuinely values the deep bond between animals and their owners and is fascinated by the unique personality of each cat.

At home, she enjoys the company of her two wonderful children and a beloved mix of pets. Professor Moriarty is a mischievous Burmese, Maus is a partially sighted British Shorthair and Whinny is a rescue Chihuahua with a cat-like personality.

Her free time is happily spent balancing time between her kids, cats and dog.
