Feline Nurse Cert. IV in Vet Nursing
Shannan’s love for animals began in childhood, and she was influenced by her aunty, who worked as a vet nurse for 25 years. Her first pets, two hermit crabs named Hermie and Hermit, were gifts from her aunty and sparked a lifelong connection with animals.
Growing up surrounded by dogs and birds, Shannan always dreamed of having a cat. This dream came true when she adopted her beloved tabby, Toni, in 2018 after moving out of home. Raising Toni from an orphaned stray at just three weeks old ignited her passion for feline care, and Shannan quickly earned the title of ‘resident cat lady’ in her workplace.
Shannan’s veterinary journey began in 2015 when she volunteered as an animal attendant. A year later, she landed a part-time position as a junior vet nurse and began studying for her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
After eight years in general practice and four years as a senior nurse, Shannan transitioned to specialty nursing in 2023 by joining Cat Specialist Services (CSS). Her passion for cats made this role a perfect fit, and she loves working with felines every day while learning from the talented team of vets and nurses here.
Outside of work, Shannan enjoys caring for her tropical fish tanks, creating beautiful underwater scapes for her ‘wet pets.’
In her free time, she also enjoys outdoor activities like camping and hiking, along with DIY and woodworking projects whenever she gets the chance.
Shannan’s love for animals, from her beloved cat Toni to her aquatic pets, continues to shape both her personal and professional life.
